Krasnodar, 11 May. The Sochi Mayor’s Office has evaluated the upgrading of old Soviet spas.

The workgroup visited the Kristall Spa in Khosta District, where an additional 405-room and medical centre building is being erected as part of the restoration and upgrading project. The medical centre will offer most advanced health improvement and treatment programmes combined with balneo- and mud therapies which are traditional for Sochi.

To date, the ferro-concrete building frame is 80% ready. The in-situ concreting works are to be completed by this summer. Then the workers will proceed to finishing works and installation of utilities.

The Kristall and the Volna spas will become part of a single treatment and spa centre. Its reconstruction provides for preservation of the palace and garden complex built in 1949–1964 which is a protected object of cultural heritage, and construction of a new 341-room spa building.
