Krasnodar, 2 August. The practice of withdrawing lands to build sports facilities will shortly be introduced in the Krasnodar region. This news was announced at the regional conference dedicated to the development of the physical culture infrastructure.

“At present, we are prepared to build even more social facilities, but there is a serious shortage of free land in the region,” Governor Vaniamin Kondratiev said at the meeting.

Dmitri Pirog, a State Duma deputy, noted that the draft law about schools and kindergartens is currently being considered by the Duma’s Committee for Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations. He said he would insist upon amending the document by adding there the withdrawal procedure for sports facilities. According to Kuban Minister of Sports Serafim Timchenko, many municipalities are lacking sports flatworks, gyms and swimming pools.

“For instance, Krasnodar lacks more than 600 facilities, Armavir – 122, Sochi – 83, and Novorossiysk – 75. As for the gyms, Sochi needs 169, and Novorossiysk – 130. There is not a single swimming pool in fifteen municipalities,” Serafim Timchenko said.

In 2022, 47 sports facilities are to be built in Krasnodar krai – integrated sports complexes, martial arts palaces, gyms and multifunctional sports grounds.
