Small, Midsize Businesses Form Basis of Regional Economy

Krasnodar, 21 December. The number of Kuban workers employed by small and midsize businesses has reportedly exceeded a million. According to the regional administration, their number should reach 990,000 by 2030 in the framework of national projects – but the milestone has already been reached. 

“For the first time in the history, we have overstepped the million-workers bar. According to the results of the first nine months of this year, the number of workers employed by small and midsize businesses grew by 119,200. By this figure, the Kuban region tops the list of the Southern Federal District and is the fourth top region nationwide,” Vice Governor Aleksandr Ruppel announced. 

Mr. Ruppel also noted that the number of self-employed persons has grown in the Krasnodar region by 3.5 times – from 42,000 up to 148,000. Thereby, the region’s plan for 2021 was overfulfilled by more than four times.
