Krasnodar, 15 September. The yield of sugar beet in Kuban has exceeded 2.5 million tons. Agrarians growing this crop, cultivated 54,7 thousand hectares or about 30% of the cultivation plan. 

- The largest volumes of crops were harvested in the Pavlovsky, Vyselkovsky, Starominsky, Kushchevsky, Leningradsky and Kanevsky districts. The average yield is higher than last year’s and is 461.3 c/ha. Thus, we expect to harvest about 9 million tons, - said Vice-Governor Andrei Korobka. 

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry of Krasnodar Territory, agrarians have to harvest 190 thousand hectares in 30 municipalities. 216 harvesters take part in the harvest. This season, sugar beet is collected and processed by 14 sugar refineries throughout the region. About 10,7 thousand hectares of sugar beet plantations have been sown with varieties of seeds of domestic selection. Their purchase is subsidized from funds of the regional budget. The Kuban produces 25% of all the sugar in Russia. In 2020, within the framework of the national project “International Cooperation and Export”, Kuban companies shipped 285.5 thousand tons of produce to 30 countries worldwide, in the amount of 102 million dollars.
