The offences were detected in 24 municipalities, including Krasnodar, during joint inspections performed by the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and law enforcement bodies. As a result, 19 criminal and 15 administrative cases have been opened. Most frequently, the offenders extracted sand-gravel, masonry sand, clay and loam.
The list of the sued includes both natural persons and legal entities. Verdicts of guilty have already been brought in on five criminal cases.
The aggregate damage caused to the depths reportedly exceeds 250 million roubles. The Ministry noted that the illegal developers are also causing huge environmental damages. By taking off the fertile soils without performing any rehabilitation work, they destroy the ecological equilibrium of the land.
The regional authorities stated that illegal extraction of rock products has become more intensive in the region, including due to the increased volume of road construction works.
