Krasnodar, 17 November. A regional school building program will shortly be developed in Krasnodar.
With the help of the program, the authorities want to cover the need of schools, bearing in mind annual increases of population in the region.
This year, the construction of thirteen schools will be completed in the region, which means 8,670 children studying in one shift. But what the region really needs is at least twice that number: every year, the number of schoolchildren gets higher by 20,000. It is Krasnodar which experiences the biggest shortage of schools: just in Muzykalny neighbourhood, the need is more than 12,000 places – but there are no schools there at all, and it is impossible to build one there due to the dense residential planning. Other municipalities also experience shortage of schools.
In the governor’s opinion, the reasons for the shortage of school are high level of migration and infill high-rise development. To resolve the problem, the town-planning norms will become stricter starting from the following year: if there are no schools or kindergartens within the radius of 500 m from a housing block, the constructor will not get the construction permit or the commissioning permit.
