Krasnodar, 3 June. In 2020, Krasnodar krai has reportedly increased exports of sugar by 16 times.
Since January, the region has sold more than 158,000 tons of sugar to its overseas partners to the total amount of USD 54.7 million. In the same period of 2019, the figures were 10,000 tons and USD 4.8 million, respectively.
According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry, presently the Kuban region exports sugar to Belarus, Georgia, Greece, Turkey, Madagascar, Israel, the USA, South Africa, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and others – altogether more than 20 countries. Under the new economic conditions, the regional Export Support Centre has intensified its activity. For instance, the Centre has helped one regional producer conclude an export contract with a Kazakhstani company.
On the whole, Kuban farmers plan to drive their export volumes to USD 3.8 billion by 2024.
