Krasnodar, 10 July – Yug Times. The trolley line is reportedly being taken off at Krasnaya street in Krasnodar.
The takedown work is being performed by the owner of the line, Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Company, whose Director Aleksandr Grachev explained that it is being done “to optimise the [public transport] route network and is connected with the change of the type of transportation on two trolleybus and one bus routes.” Trolleybuses ceased to move along Krasnaya street from Severnaya to Ofitserskaya streets, and along Shosse Neftianikov from Ofitserskaya to Krasnaya streets on June 7.
According to the Krasnodar Tram and Trolleybus Company, the need to take down the wires was also caused by a great degree of wear and tear. The last capital repair of these road sectors was carried out more than 35 years ago, so the wear of the trolley wire exceeds 50%, losses of the insulation properties of the line exceed 85%, and corrosion of the bearing cable approximates 95%. It is planned that the trolleybuses at Krasnaya street will be replaced by electric buses (trolleybuses equipped with batteries allowing for increased autonomous motion).
