Krasnodar, 2 July – Yug Times. Last Friday, on 28 June, Krasnodar hosted the annual Governor’s Ball for best secondary school leavers, and winners of various sports and academic competitions.
The school leaving party held outdoors, in Kazachia (Cossack) Square, summoned 2,500 school graduates. Its participants walked along Krasnaya street from Zhukov Garden to the fountain standing next to the regional Legislative Assembly.
For the first time, the parents were also invited to the party. Over a thousand young pairs performed several dances: waltz, polonaise, jive, hustle, and a Cossack dance, and did two flash-mobs and sang the famous Katyusha song. The dances had been staged by professional choreographers and a director.
Addressing the school leavers, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said that this year’s ball is the most numerous in its history (the balls are held in June every year, starting from 2006): “It has gathered 2,500 participants – which is a record!”
The official part was followed by a performance of IOWA group and festive fireworks.
