Krasnodar, 26 June – Yug Times. Judges from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states have reportedly held a meeting in Sochi.
On the Russian side, the event was attended by Supreme Court Chairman Viacheslav Lebedev, and Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Lebedev was quoted as saying that in conditions of activation and expansion of the SCO activity, cooperation between the member states’ supreme courts comes to be in great demand.
“The new challenges need coordination of our efforts aimed at protection of human rights and main freedoms, and modernisation of judicial work,” he said.
The participants of the meeting discussed such issues of administration of justice as reduction of the time of consideration of criminal and administrative cases, opportunities for expansion of conciliation procedures, protection of children’s rights, and revision of enforced court decisions and verdicts on criminal cases.
