Krasnodar, 17 April – Yug Times. Last week, the Cossack school No. 6 in Mingrelskaya, Abinsk rayon, hosted a meeting of Nikolai Doluda, Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Host, with a group of youth Cossack atamans. It was for the first time that Ataman Doluda summoned the atamans of eight Cossack schools from Abinks, Novorossiysk, Krymsk and Seversky rayons, and the Novorossiysk Cossack Cadet School.
Before their meeting with Cossack Host Ataman, his young colleagues together with Denis Rashitov, Head of the Abinsk branch of the Young Kuban Cossack League, visited St. Demetrius’ Church, where the priest, Father Alexander Oblaukhov, told them about the ancient icons and sanctuaries of the Church lodged in the building of the former village school. The young Cossacks also paid tribute to the memory of the local ataman Sergei Osminin who heroically perished defending a teenager from criminals. Now the school No. 6 is named after him.
Nikolai Doluda was heartily welcomed as an honoured guest by Headmistress Oksana Parfenova, Rayon Cossack Ataman Sergei Bondarenko and Municipal Head Igor Dubrovin. On the ground floor, the Cossack girls showed him their handicrafts. Then Ataman Doluda had a talk with the atamans of the Cossack schools. From the conversation, he learnt what the main problems of the Cossack youth are and how the young Cossack leaders plan to guide their peers.
The atamans shared their experience and discussed issues of patriotic and moral education, cultural and sport life in schools, their assistance to orphanages and homes for elderly care, the level of the Councils of Atamans and school self-governing.
