Krasnodar, 30 January – Yug Times. The issue of demolition of illegally built high-rise blocks was reportedly discussed at a meeting held last week in Sochi and attended by First Vice Governor Andrei Alekseyenko and Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Gurba.
The Krasnodar region is known to be actively pulling down illegally built houses. According to the regional register, the number of such buildings has dropped from 7,416 in 2006 to about 1,770.
Mr. Aleskeyenko noted that the governor has signed a resolution that defines the activities to be taken by municipalities against illegally erected capital objects.
For instance, 23 buildings have been demolished in Sochi, of which 20 were pulled down at the builders’ cost; the issue of demolition of other 171 illegally erected objects is being considered at the moment.
“We have passed the no-return point,” he said. “Now we must continue this systematic work by joint efforts and following the recommendations of Governor’s resolution.”
