Krasnodar, 11 January – Yug Times. Over the last year, The Yug Times weekly had been closely following the most notorious inquests and legal cases held in the Krasnodar region. Our publications attracted attention of the authorities and law enforcement bodies. Quite often, publicity became the spur that allowed them to look at the situation at a different angle and see what had been hidden from the public. Today we are recalling some of the most resonant cases. Some have finished successfully, while the others remain under our scrutiny as well as under the consideration of the competent bodies and responsible officials.
For Susanna Riabova, the year 2018 was marked by a double victory: she obtained justice at court and was restored her job that she had lost for ‘absenteeism’. The Yug Times had for over eighteen months been following Susanna’s fate - starting from the moment when she was released from the remand prison where she had been put for a trumped-up case.
Family Gets Halved
A real family drama that could have served the script for a TV film happened in Krasnodar. Yelena Molchanova, a successful entrepreneur, died after a prolonged illness. Her passing away became a stroke for her family: her parents, Irina and Aleksandr Yesayan, her husband Gennadi Molchanov, their common daughter Maria and her daughter from the first marriage Aleksandr. However, Gennadi, a well-off businessperson himself, banned Maria to communicate with her grandparents and brother. He is busy with fighting for her deceased wife’s inheritance, including what she had owned before marrying him. Irina and Aleksandr are still hoping that one day their grandchildren would be able to communicate and live as a genuine family.
House: To Demolish or Preserve?
Last year, Ivetta Korshakova from Anapa fought to preserve the house which had to be pulled down according to a court decision. And she may win: in December 2018, a recurrent sitting of the court decided to overrule the decision on demolition. The demolition has been overruled, but the case is not over yet: now it is necessary to legalise the construction project.
