Krasnodar, 23 May – Yug Times. The first toll highway will reportedly appear in the Krasnodar region by the end of this summer or in autumn. It will be a 200-km-long part of the M-4 Don highway Moscow - Novorossiysk between Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar. The turnpike will go along six rayons of the region: Pavlovsky, Krylovsky, Kushchevsky, Vyselki, Korenovsk and Dinskoi.
The M-4 highway is considered one of the most loaded roads in the country. It becomes especially evident in summer, when hundreds of thousands of cars start heading for the Black and Azov seacoasts - so miles-long traffic jams are not a rare thing along this road.
The fare has not been established yet. But judging from the fact that 50-km-long sectors in other regions cost 70 to 80 roubles in daytime and 50 roubles at night, one can guess that the 200-km-long Kuban sector would cost the car drivers 300 roubles at least. It is natural that not all motorists look forward to such prospects, which is why the alternative free roads are becoming of greater importance.
The said six districts must be absolutely prepared to the re-distribution of the traffic. If they manage to do it, the introduction of turnpike roads will be smooth and painless. However, there exists another variant which is much less optimistic. One should not exclude that the free roads would collapse because of the inrush of all those who would not be ready to pay for the using of the turnpike.
