Krasnodar, 9 January – Yug Times. About 20,000 townspeople and guests of Krasnodar came to Teatralnaya Square to see the spectacular show The Gift of Four Elements performed by Premiera Artists’ Association, the Youth Theatre, and the Rodnik Vocal and Dance Ensemble.
The stage was stylized to feature the four terrestrial elements — Fire, Air, Earth and Water. The directors of the New Year show prepared interactive games with the spectators, contests with surprises and draws, a laser show and special music.
At 11:55 pm, Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov addressed the audience by video link. He wished all townspeople a happy New Year.
On the eve of the holiday, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev also addressed the inhabitants of the region. In his speech, he reviewed the results of 2017 and told the prospects for 2018.
At midnight, the sky over the Krasnodar region was lit up with a spectacular firework.
A week later, Kuban people celebrated Christmas. The Divine Services were held in all 480 Orthodox churches of the region. Hundreds of thousands of local residents and guests of Kuban took part in the Christmas all-night vigil. Metropolitan Isidore of Yekaterinodar and Kuban held the Divine Service at St. Catherine’s Cathedral in Krasnodar.
