ЮГ Times. The group of farmers now yelling they are being ‘lawlessly oppressed’, are known to have carved out over 900 hectares from a public land plot several years ago. Then the rights of nearly 70% of the owners of the land shares had been in fact violated – they had not been duly informed of the upcoming meeting. The shareholders appealed to the Rodina Agricultural Company to have their rights defended, and this week the Krasnodar Regional Court will be considering the appeal Rodina has submitted in the interests of over a hundred residents of Voznesenskaya village, Labinsk rayon. Commerce destroyers are known to often hold illegal meetings of dummy shareholders. In the mid-2000s, a number of big farms were ruined with the help of dummy activities. The raiders’ pattern is well-known: they hold a shareholders’ meeting with the (apparently not disinterested) connivance of local authorities. Most shareholders are not informed of such meeting – but gangs of suspicious persons without any lawful rights to dispose of somebody else’s land are brought to that meeting instead. It is them who take a decision to allocate some large land plot or to farm out the fields to some completely unknown lessee. Then the minutes of such meeting are registered with the State Register, and the real shareholders get stripped of their land shares for 10 – 15 years without even being aware of this fact. This story is closely related to the notorious ‘tractor march’ to Moscow. The protesting farmers joined by their colleagues from Labinsk became media stars and decided that they could make the local authorities do what they wanted them to do. In some cases, they virtually blackmailed the authorities, threatening that they would commit self-immolation and march to protest as far as to the Kremlin walls.
