"I am hoping that Prime Minister Shinzō Abe's working visit scheduled for May 6 in Sochi will contribute to expansion of the Russian-Japanese links on the basis of mutual benefit and with due regard for each other's interests," Mr. Putin was quoted as saying.
Sochi is a popular Russian seaside and alpine resort, the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Putin is known to have more than once made a declaration of love to Sochi, which has on the regular basis been the venue of Russian President's meetings with the leaders of other countries.
