The issue of understaffing in the hospitality sector was the focus of a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Chernyshenko that was held last week in Krasnodar.
“The development and training of personnel for the tourism and hospitality sectors is a top priority for the industry,” said Dmitri Chernyshenko. “Currently, the industry employs approximately 1 million people, with a projected demand for an additional 250,000 by 2030, driven by the ambitious development of major investment projects such as 'Five Seas and Lake Baikal.' The Russian State University of Tourism and Service is set to become a leading training centre for the industry.”
Vice Governor Aleksandr Ruppel emphasised the importance of considering seasonality when assessing the staffing needs of the tourism sector in the Krasnodar region. He noted that in August, the capacity of resorts increases almost threefold.
The region's health resort and tourism industry currently employs over 100,000 people.
