Krasnodar, 15 June – Yug Times. During the Year of Architecture, many cultural heritage sites are reportedly reconstructed in Sochi. Works are now underway at the Vodokanal pumping station building. It will be reconstructed and reopened as a museum of architecture. To date, the first phase of the renovation has been completed. The building of the pumping station was built in Sochi in 1936 in the same architectural style as the city’s sea terminal. Now the station’s equipment occupies only a small part of this unique object. The vacant space will accommodate the museum’s exhibitions where the townsfolk and visitors will learn about the history of Sochi’s development and see the designs of famous buildings.
Also the reconstruction of the Stereo Garden has begun. It will turn into a year-round blooming garden, with seating areas and a small pond, a circular walking route and a bicycle parking.
The square in front of the Arts Museum will soon be refurbished too. The renovated square is expected to become a focal point for artists and young architects.
