Krasnodar, 23 December. Our today’s interviewee is Andrei Bredishchev, Head of the Administration of the Federal State Statistics Agency for Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Adyghea.
Q.: What did the results of the latest census held last year show in terms of foreign citizens residing in the Krasnodar region? How actively did foreign citizens leave our region this year?
A.: In Krasnodar Krai, there were over 9,500 foreign citizens, of whom nearly 900 persons were born in Russia. A little bit more than 6,000 foreigners who lived in our region were citizens of ex-USSR countries, mainly of Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan. Of those foreigners who showed the aim of their arrival at Russia, 44% came to work, 22% as tourists, for 15% for private purposes, and 12% to study. Over the first nine months of this year, the number of foreign citizens that left Russia for their respective countries amounted to 18,800 persons, compared with 7,900 in the same period of 2021.
Q.: What did happen with the inhabitants of Krasnodar Krai during the pandemic?
A.: The data for 2020 – 2021 show acceleration of the population drop. Over nine months of 2022, the decline was 20,000 persons, which was by 20.7% less than in the same period of 2021. At present, the value of the population drop is decreasing.
Q.: What are the overall birth and death rates in the region?
A.: Despite the targeted socio-demographic policy performed in Russia, the birth rate in the Krasnodar region keeps on falling down for the last few years. As for the ratio of born babies to 1,000 persons, our region is not in the top of the list, but the regional figure of 9.6 per mille is still above the national average 9.1 per mille.
Q.: Where do migrants come to our region from this year? How do these migration flows differ from those of the previous years?
A.: In January – September, 66,800 persons arrived at the Krasnodar region from other Russian regions, and 20,800 persons – from other countries (the prevailing majority of them, 19,400 persons, came from ex-Soviet countries). For the same period of 2021, the number of foreign immigrants was 21,600 persons; in 2020 – 21,200 persons, also with over 19,000 coming from ex-USSR countries. That is, there were no big differences this year.
