Krasnodar, 23 December. The first qualification exam for tour guides has recently been held in Krasnodar Krai.
The examination was held for professional guides working in the region. In the future, such events will be held at least once every three months. The 25-member qualifying commission included governmental executives, experts and academic scholars.
“A tour guide is somebody who is able to arouse interest, attract tourists and make them fall in love with a new city and its history, culture, legends and buildings,” Mikhail Zaritsky, Acting Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage says. “The overall impression of the resort and the holiday spent there depends much upon the knowledge, competency and attitude of the guide.”
The Ministry of Resorts explained that the data of all guides who have passed the qualification exam will be entered in the federal register of tour guides and escorting interpreters. Besides, they will get a certificate and an ID badge. The certificate will be valid for five years, then the qualification will have to be reconfirmed.
