Krasnodar, 15 December. The format of waste container grounds will be reviewed in Krasnodar. The Mayor’s Office believes that it will help fight with the unauthorised dumps next to the containers. “This is a problem of our city. We do tidy it up, but the city is not clean,” Mayor Yevgeni Naumov said.
According to Vice Mayor Maksim Onishchenko, the very approach to household waste collection and disposal must be changed to have the situation improved.
“The [waste collection] platforms that are currently being installed downtown and partially on the outskirts are made of shaped pipe. We see the design flaws of these platforms. They are not equipped with compartments for oversize bulk waste. The doors often remain open, which complicates the container removal procedure and creates a threat of road accidents,” he added. Maksim Onishchenko suggested that the simplified format of container platforms should be returned. At the same time, larger platforms, having seven to twelve or more containers, may be turned into roofed facilities to exclude the possibility of placing the waste in the adjacent territory. Local inhabitants have regularly complained about the very appearance of containers.
