Krasnodar, 8 September. The Krasnodar region has reportedly received additional funding for the clearing of riverbeds.

The money will be spent to increase the flow capacity of the rivers in Sochi and Tuapse, their cleaning and deepening, and bank revetment. The total sum assigned is nearly 120 million roubles.

In Tuapse, the project will cover two rivers of the total length of 3.7 km. However, most of the money will be spent to clean water bodies in Sochi.

It is known that over 60 rivers flow through the city. During heavy rains, they overflow their banks which often results in flooding.

Since 2021 in Sochi 1.6 km of the Ashe River have been cleaned, with 3.5 km to be cleaned in the near future. The works are also being performed at the Psezuapse River at Tkhagapsh, Tatianovka, Alekseyevka and Lazarevsky, along a 7-km-long sector. They are to be completed in 2023.

Currently, the regional budget is being used to develop the project of cleaning a 2.5-km-long sector of the Tsukhvadzh River in Soloniki and Mirny, and a 2-km-long sector of the Khosta River. During the nearest two years, documents for the works of the total length of 3.5 km at the Bely Brook in the Lazarevsky rayon and the Matsesta River in Khosta the rayon will be prepared.

So far, dangerous sectors of the total length of 57.3 km were revealed in the city of Sochi.
