Krasnodar, 7 July. On July 1, a zero VAT rate for hotels came into effect in the Krasnodar region. The regional authorities believe that it will attract additional investments and increase the quality of recreation at the Kuban resorts.

“The Kuban resorts are much sought-after among Russian holidaymakers, and our main task is to make them more accessible and improve their service level. To achieve that, we first of all will need to establish maximum comfortable conditions for the business. The opening of new tourist accommodations will reduce the shortage of rooms and stimulate competitiveness of the market. We have already banned any residential construction within the 500-metre coastal zone, and entrepreneurs have begun to invest in the construction of hotels and spas,” Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said.

The operating hotels may benefit from zero rates until June 30, 2027. The facilities that opened after January 1, 2022 or are just about to open, will have to apply to the Russian Tourism Agency first, and then to the tax authority. For them, the privilege will be valid for five years from the date of opening.
