Krasnodar, 7 April. Sochi and Krasnodar have reportedly made the top ten most comfortable big cities in Russia.
The quality of the urban environment was assessed by the federal Ministry of Construction and Residential and Utilities Service. Sochi and Krasnodar took the fifth and the sixth places in the category “Big cities located in conditionally comfortable climate.” It is worth noting that they had not competed with the both capitals and such megalopolises as Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don or Volgograd. In its group, Sochi got 229 points, yielding to Grozny (2nd place) and Tyumen (1st place). Krasnodar got 225 points, thus yielding to Belgorod (5th place) and Yaroslavl (4th place). Novorossiysk came the 15th.
The index was formed based on 36 indicators joined together into six types of urban spaces, including accommodation, public-and-business and social-and-amusement infrastructure, green zones, embankments, street architecture and citywide space. Every indicator was assessed by the following factors: safety, comfort, environmental friendliness, identity and diversity, up-to-dateness, and efficiency of the authorities.
