Krasnodar, 10 November. The COVID-19 statistics unprecedentedly soared up in Krasnodar krai last week.
The daily sickness rate rose beyond 300. What was more, the pace of the disease was quite unusual for the region: instead of the traditional increase of one to three new patients, it amounted to ten a day. On Wednesday, the number of new cases was 286, on Thursday – 297, on Friday – 306 (a record figure throughout the pandemic period), and on Monday – 315 (another record figure). At present, about 7,000 patients are being treated in COVID-19 hospitals.
According to the official statistics for September recently released by the Russian Statistical Agency, 1,462 coronavirus-infected patients died in Krasnodar krai in that month, which was by 17.2 times more than in September 2020 when 85 patients had died. The COVID-19 diagnosis was fully confirmed for 1,303 patients, while the other 159 patients reportedly “may have been infected.”
In addition to that, 132 patients died from mortal complications caused by COVID-19. In September, Krasnodar krai was the nation’s seventh and the Southern federal District’s second top region by coronavirus-related mortality cases.
