Krasnodar, 17 March. Over 250 water level gauges have reportedly been installed in the rivers of the Kuban region.
They are needed to get properly prepared for the upcoming high-water season. The equipment will allow to control the situation in water bodies and promptly warn the local inhabitants.
According to the press service of the regional administration, currently there are 266 regional sensors and 47 federal hydrologic posts, including 25 posts involved in meteorological observance, to measure the water level in local rivers. The federal posts take measurements twice a day, and in case of danger – every two hours.
In the areas most frequently exposed to inundations, the preparatory works include a series of other measures. Say, five kilometres of small rivers were cleared off the fallen trees last year in Apsheronsk Rayon. For the case of flooding, temporary accommodation facilities for 700 persons have been opened in Apsheronsk. Waterworks are to be built on the Andriuk River in Solenoe, Mostovskoi Rayon. Eighteen temporary accommodation facilities have been opened in Mostovskoi.
