Krasnodar, 17 July. A special workgroup charged with the development of the concept of the city’s historical quarter will be organised in Krasnodar, under the aegis of the Department for Architecture and Urban Development, the participants of the roundtable dedicated to the reconstruction of Merchant Likhatsky’s Mansion and the adjoining area. The group will be composed of experts, architects, journalists and public activists, whose best proposals will become the basis for the designers’ technical assignments. In the future, the concept of the historical quarter will be discussed at several roundtables and project seminars.
At the moment, there is a municipal order for the development of design documentation for the restoration of Likhatsky’s Mansion. The contract is to be concluded in August.
“We need to understand what we would like to get as a result. For instance, there are no free sites in Krasnodar to realise the youth’s creative potential – exhibition grounds for contemporary arts, concerts or festivals. The city needs its museum – there are many artefacts to fill it with. What is more, the concept should take into account the longterm development of the adjacent areas,” Vice Mayor Liliana Yegorova said.
