Krasnodar, 24 December – Yug Times. On 23 December, President Putin stood in the driver’s cabin of a train for the official opening of a railway bridge that links Crimea to southern Russia. Following the ride starting from Kerch in Crimea to Taman, he took part in the opening ceremony.
“Restoration of the railway service with Crimea is an important event for entire south Russia that will exert a positive effect on the economic development,” he stressed. “The plans for the next year are 14 million passengers and 13 million tons of freight.”
At the same time, the first Tavria train left St. Petersburg for Crimea. The first train from Moscow departed on 24 December. Train service from other Russian regions to Crimea has been scheduled for the beginning of the 2020 tourist season.
