Krasnodar, 1 November – Yug Times. In 2020, six foreign passenger cruise liners will reportedly start plying at Sochi.
The issue of resumption of the cruise ship industry was discussed at a meeting chaired by Svetlana Balaeva, the regional minister of resorts, tourism and Olympic heritage. “Sochi does have a convenient port and border infrastructure, and a unique experience of reception of foreign tourists,” she stressed. “Presently, 35 travel agencies located in the city work with foreign guests.”
“The first international company to resume cruise service with Sochi will be Azamara Cruises,” Vladimir Derkunov, general director of the Sochi seaport announced. “The cruise company wants to operate two voyages from Athens via Istanbul, Varna, Constanța, Odessa and Sochi. Besides, there are five other cruise ships that are planning to call at the port: Albatros, Amera, Le Bougainville, Boudicca, and Ocean Majesty. A special workgroup will be established to prepare the infrastructures of Sochi and Novorossiysk for receiving foreign tourists.
