Krasnodar, 23 August – Yug Times. Six tram carriages decorated with materials of the exposition “Gold Pool of the Russian Geographical Society” are now plying the streets of Krasnodar. The solemn launch of the painted carriages took place last week in the Eastern Tram Depot.
“On 18 August, Russia will for the first time celebrate the Day of Geographer. It’s great that we are launching a unique educational project together with the Russian Geographical Society on this professional holiday. Now the passengers and the guests of the city will be able to learn interesting facts about the lives and inventions of outstanding Russian scholars and travellers, and – on the whole – about the history of our country,” Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov said.
The boards of the carriages feature the travellers’ portraits and interesting facts from their biographies. Those who would like to learn more will be able to scan the QR-codes to enter the website of the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, and read there materials about these pioneers, scientists and travellers.
