Krasnodar, 19 October – Yug Times. On October 6, Abrau Durso hosted the 8th annual national Wine Summit, organised by the Russian Union of Viticulturists and Winemakers (RUVW) and Russian Wine House Abrau Durso, and supported by the federal Ministry of Agriculture and regional administration.

Traditionally, both large wineries and garage winemakers gathered in Abrau Durso to present their best wines.

The agenda of the summit included a prize-giving ceremony to the best Russian wines of the year, according to the contest known as the RUVW Cup. Kuban Vino from the Temriuk rayon (district) received the highest points for its Aristov Rosé Brut as the country’s best Charmat sparkling wine, and a series of gold and silver medals for other wines.

“We participate in the summit every year, so we can see how the very event, and together with it the entire attitude to Russian winemaking, are changing,” Kuban Vino Head Oenologist Vand Botnari said.

Earlier, Kuban Vino was awarded two silver medals at the Mundus Vini tasting competition, held in Neustadt, Germany. The winners were Chateau Tamagne Grand Select Blanc, and Chateau Tamagne Grand Select Rouge.

Mundus Vini is known as one of the world’s most prestigious wine contests. It has been held since 2001. Its tasting system complies with the UIOE and OIV standards: the wines are blindtasted and points scored out of 100 by a professional international jury consisting of oenologists and sommerliers.

Thus, Kuban Vino has once again proved the high quality of their wines at the international arena.
