Krasnodar, 28 August – Yug Times. Sergei Skorodumov, Head of the Representation of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Krasnodar, speaks about the extent of business relations of Kuban and Adyghea with their foreign partners, and about positive perception of images of South Russian regions abroad.
Q.: The Representation of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working in Krasnodar for twenty years. Could you indicate its main results for this period of time?
A.: I am confirmed that it is the high level of international cooperation presently demonstrated by the Krasnodar region and the Republic of Adyghea that is the main indicator of the successful work of the Representation. Its evidence is a solid contractual base, a big number of important international activities held, and of course the perception of images of our southern regions abroad. It is very important that our executives have helped a lot of Russian and foreign citizens over these years. Quite often, our diplomats together with their colleagues from other Russian and international institutions were helping rescue people’s lives. All diplomats that work in Krasnodar, have graduated from the Kuban State University, specialized in international relations or international regional studies, and speak at least two foreign languages. Many of them have got a second higher education in economics, law or sociology.
Q.: For many years, Adyghea stayed at the periphery of investment flows and was uninteresting to overseas business. Now the situation has changed. Why?
A.: Growth of the investment appeal of the Republic of Adyghea has been caused by a number of factors, like increased international activity of Russian regions on the whole that goes in line with Russia’s foreign political priorities. The anti-Russian economic and political sanctions aimed at isolation of our country have given a converse effect. In particular, many Russian regions have intensified the work on improving links with their foreign partners. Undoubtedly, first of all credit for such intensification in Adyghea must go to the local management team.
