Krasnodar, 19 July – Yug Times. The 2018 FIFA World Cup finished with the triumph of France as the world champion, and Russia as the host; as regards Kuban, it was called the most hospitable region in southern Russia.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was fully pleased with the World Cup, its organisation, the performance of the Russian national team, and the emotions of the fans.

“Russia was thoroughly and responsibly preparing to the World Cup,” stated Mr. Putin. He expressed gratitude to the representatives of different countries “for millions of nice words addressed to Russia and its people.” Even the USA did not contest the fact of ideal organisation of the tournament. “Congratulations to President Putin and Russia for putting on a truly great World Cup Tournament – one of the best ever!” U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted.

Meeting with President Putin, IOC President Thomas Bach also highly assessed “the immense success of the World Cup.” “Indeed, Russia has shown once again its ability to host such major events due to its exceptional organising skills,” Mr. Bach was quoted as saying.

During the last month, the economy of the Krasnodar region was on the rise – mainly due to the significant inflow of tourists.

According to official statistics, from June 15 until July 12 Anapa, Gelendzhik, Sochi and Krasnodar received about 800,000 holidaymakers, including visitors from Sweden, Iceland, Switzerland, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Italy, Argentina and other countries.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that “the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia was the best one in history.” Now the World Cup is over. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took part in the World Cup host mantle handover ceremony to Qatar held in the Kremlin.

It can be seen that Qatar, a leader of the world’s oil and gas market, means to hold an ideal World Cup – suffice it to say that new cities are being built in the desert to host the matches and the fans. Billions of dollars are being invested in the infrastructure and ultra-modern technologies. Most likely, Qatar will outshine Russia in the scope of the contest – but not in broadness and sincerity of soul. In this respect, Russia will for sure remain the world’s leader.
