Krasnodar, 10 May – Yug Times. Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin held the last meeting of the Supervisory Board of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee in Sochi. Mr. Putin was quoted as saying that Russia’s preparatory work has practically been completed. Currently, the most responsible stage has begun - pinpoint adjustment of all mechanisms needed to activate the process.
“The situation will require constant attention and your personal involvement,” stated Mr. Putin addressing the regional leaders. “Comfort of the local people, convenient logistics for the guests and athletes, road traffic situation and cultural activities - the regions must take care of all these factors. For a month, [Russian] regions will remain in the spotlight of the entire world.”
A number of Kuban cities will also take part in the event. Krasnodar will be the venue of the Spanish national team; Sochi - of those from Brazil and Poland. The Danish team will be quartered in Anapa; those from Iceland and Sweden - in Gelendzhik. Apart from them, crowds of football fans will come to the region to support their national teams.
On the same day, Vladimir Putin together with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev inspected the level of preparedness of the infrastructure in Sochi to the 2018 World Cup.
