Krasnodar, 18 April – Yug Times. On April 12, the Drama Theatre in Krasnodar hosted the celebrations of the fifth anniversary of The Yug Times, the first bilingual Russian-English weekly newspaper in the region. The birthday party summoned distinguished guests from throughout the region – top officers of executive, judicial and legislative power, ministries and governmental departments, public organizations and mass media.
People trust in our newspaper, which is why the team of our long-standing partners and experts includes leading opinion-makers of the region. The Yug Times’ festivity became an important event for them too – suffice it to say that the list of attendees included Chair of the regional Civic Chamber Lubov Popova, Chair of the Southern Regional Committee of the European Business Association Oleg Zharko, Consul General of Cyprus Elias Mavrokefalos, regional Business Ombudsman Igor Yakimchik, and Consul General of Turkey Yunus Emre Özigci; but it was our Editor-in-Chief Marina Tugaeva, the founder and ideologist of the project, became the main star of the evening. In her welcoming word, Marina Tugaeva greeted “our true friends and partners” – government officials, businesspeople, law enforcement officers, cultural figures and media personalities. “Our first issue was released on 20 March, 2013. Since then, we have published 261 issues. I want to thank all of you who came to share our festivity, and to wish you all the best and only good news,” said she.
Then the guests’ greetings followed. In her speech, Lubov Popova stressed that our weekly “became a real phenomenon” in the region’s public life.
Oleg Zharko noted that The Yug Times is the regional leader in the segment of business mass media, targeted at the development of international cooperation.
