Krasnodar, 20 January – Yug Times. With less than five months left until the World Cup, we tried to answer the question — how is Kuban getting prepared to the big sports event?
The regional organizational committee in charge of the preparation and holding of the 2018 World Cup is headed by Vice Governor Nikolai Doluda. His direct reports on the issue are the top officials of the regional Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, regional executives, police officers, and managers of construction companies.
Numerous meetings are devoted to most important issues — like the preparedness of the sport infrastructure.
The Fisht Stadium in Sochi that will host qualifying and playoff matches, is nearly fully prepared to receive the world’s best teams. Presently main attention is paid to the construction of training sites in the places where national teams will be lodged - that is, in Anapa, Gelendzhik and Krasnodar. Mr. Doluda announced that the constructors will be working round the clock if necessary — however, such extra strain may hardly be needed.
The construction works are to complete in March.
Krasnodar will accommodate the Spanish team. The Spaniards are one of the main challengers for the World Cup. According to Julen Lopetegui, the current manager of the Spanish national team, their analytical taskforce had evaluated the possible places for accommodation and decided that Krasnodar was the best choice.
Anapa will be hosting the Danish national team.
Mr. Doluda was quoted as saying that faultless conducting of the World Cup matches in the Krasnodar region is a matter of national, not just regional, prestige. So both the athletes and the fans are looking forward to striking reception.
