Krasnodar, 29 December – Yug Times. Kuban continues to take a lead in the rating of preferences of Russian holidaymakers who prefer to stick to domestic tourism. The Krasnodar region constantly works on strengthening of its hospitality industry. Khristofor Konstantinidi, regional Minister of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage, reviews the results of this work.
“By mid-December, the Kuban resorts had reached the level of the year 2016: nearly 15.8 million tourists had visited our region. I am confident that by the end of the year the figure will rise to 16 million tourists, which was our initial forecast”.
“The most important thing was that together with the municipalities and tourist companies we managed to retain the flow of tourists, despite all difficult circumstances: the cold and rainy beginning of the summer and re-opened [as a tourist destination] Turkey played against us. As a consequence, on the whole Russian resorts demonstrated decrease of the flow of tourists — however, we kept the situation under control”, — said Khristofor Konstantinidi.
