Krasnodar, August 5 – Yug Times. Krasnodar will reportedly introduce height restrictions in the city’s historical centre by the beginning of 2018. On July 28, a roundtable was held in the Formula business centre, whose participants - representatives of business circles, regional and municipal authorities - discussed the current architectural problems of the city.
“The rules of the game were established quite long ago; they are governed by many legal enactments - first of all, the Town-Planning Code of the Russian Federation, documents on land use and development, and general development plans,” reminded Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov. “But over the last 10 - 15 years, too many deviations from the norms have been tolerated in the municipality. So our today’s criticism of such town-planning policy is well substantiated.”
Speaking at the roundtable, Yuri Rysin, Head Architect of the Krasnodar region, announced the new height restrictions to be shortly introduced for Krasnodar’s historical centre - that is, Krasnaya Street from Ofitserskaya Street to the Aurora Cinema.
The authors of the project are proposing to distinguish several town-planning zones with different height restrictions for the newly erected buildings - the farther from the centre the higher they may be built. For instance, in Zone 1 - from Alexander Nevsky’s Cathedral to the Aurora Cinema - the new tower blocks may be only 20 m, or six floors, high.
“I am impressed by the attempts of the authorities to fix the dialog with the business sector,” said Mikhail Popenko, Vice President of the Development Yug Construction Investment Company. “There are rules, which all players must fully adhere to. No double standards may be tolerable in our business.”
