ЮГ Times. Krasnodar fashion clothes designers say they are lacking competition and knowledge of business.
The Interfax-Yug information agency has organized a roundtable with fashion industry workers to find out the current state of affairs and answer questions about the necessity of a trade union, possibilities for governmental support, and attraction of investors and banks in the industry.
It was stated that fashion industry has of late been actively developing in the Krasnodar region. The local couturiers present their collections at different events several times a year. As a result, the clothes developed by Kuban designers is acquiring popularity, to which appearance of several regional brands is a proof.
According to some participants of the roundtable, to promote the Kuban-born clothes brands, an industry association is needed. “It is very difficult to be engaged in marketing, promotion and sales at the same time,” said Olya Sadovaya, couturiere, director of the clothes boutique Jigo and the author of the brand made after her. “If united into some structure, the professionals may try and solve these problems together – either allocating duties among the members of the association, or outsourcing somebody else.” According to Sadovaya, one of the biggest problems that the fashion designers are facing in Krasnodar as well as in other parts of the country is lack of good-quality fabrics and accessories – buttons, zips and threads.
