ЮГ Times. Last week President of the Russian Football Union Vitali Mutko confirmed that next month the Krasnodar stadium will play host to a match of the national team. So – what does the super-arena look like?
It was Sergei Galitsky’s idea to build a new stadium. Galitsky is the owner of the Magnit retail network and FC Krasnodar. The project was developed by the architectural bureau SPEECH together with the German company GMP. The construction began in 2013 and was carried on by the Turkish company Esta. The name of the stadium’s arena resembling the renowned Coliseum in Rome may become known this month. What is already known is that the stadium will be one of the nicest and most functional sports grounds in Russia.
The grandstands may accommodate up to 33,000 fans and are equipped with an infrared heating system to please the spectators in cold weather. A huge media-screen of an area of 4,700 square metres will show the minutest details of any episode of a match. It cost really a lot to construct such a big stadium – more than 20 billion rubles, as Mr. Galitsky himself acknowledged. Well, not cheap but very spectacular! Of course, the new stadium is a commercial project that wants profit – say, from its spacious trading grounds. However, Mr. Galitsky says he does not expect any big commercial profit from the project: “Most likely, such things will never repay.”
