The plan reportedly provides for monthly assessments of a possibility of air flights between Sochi and Chinese cities, setting up of a list of Chinese language tourist guides to work in the Krasnodar region, development of special tourist products for the visitors from China, and other activities.

It is noteworthy that similar plan worked in 2015. The region's authorities more than once were quoted as declaring their interest in the development of Russian - Chinese tourism.

According to the regional Resorts Ministry, in 2014 more than 7,000 Chinese tourists visited the Krasnodar region. In 2015, the figure fell to 5,000. The initial idea was to attract as many as 1 million tourists from China a year.
