Iphigenia, a piercing drama about a young princess, will open the Days of Greek Films in Krasnodar on April 26, announced the regional Ministry of Culture.

In the framework of the Days of Greek Films, the residents of Krasnodar will be able to watch both films directed by well-known preofessionals and those made and released by young Greek authors.

Say, the city dwellers will see El Greco directed by Jannis Smaragdis (a biographical film about the life of the Greek painter of the Spanish Renaissance, Domenicos Theotokopoulos, known worldwide as El Greco), Stratos directed by Yannis Economides (a film about the internal world of a man that is obliged to live a double life), and Dead Europe directed by Tony Krawitz.

The festival of the Greek films will be closed with Ulysses' Gaze by Theo Angelopoulos.

The organizers of the festival were quoted as saying that an acquanitance with the Greek cinematography will let the people of Krasnodar experience the centuries-old culture of Greece.

This event is especially important for the Krasnodar region, having strong and long-life links with Greece.

In Russia, the current year of 2016 has been announced as the Year of National Cinematograph and the Year of Greece.
