Krasnodar, 29 August – Yug Times. Sochi Aims to Maintain Summer Occupancy Levels Through September.
Average hotel occupancy in Sochi currently stands at 87 per cent, with the mountain cluster at 82 per cent. Currently, nearly 200,000 tourists are holidaying in the resort city. According to booking data, this level is expected to hold through September, city officials said at a meeting of the municipal task force overseeing the summer season.
“The tourist flow in Sochi remains on par with last year, meaning it is still high. Since the start of the year the city has welcomed 5.4 million visitors,” said Sochi Deputy Mayor Sergei Somko. “Our main focus is ensuring the safety of both residents and guests. Over the past two weeks, 1,630 litres of illicit alcohol have been seized. Together with the police, we have tightened oversight of extreme tour services, including jeep tours, inspecting 105 vehicles.”
Monitoring teams continue their patrols across the resort city. Since 1 May, 1,687 reports have been filed over unlicensed trading; since the start of the year, more than 4,000.
