Krasnodar, 7 March – Yug Times. The upcoming holiday season will be a challenge for southern Russia, the participants of the AMOS Hoteliers Association meeting stated.

The gathering held in Sochi summoned over 130 specialists in the hotel and resort industry, experts at regional and federal level, and heads of specialised educational institutions.

Daria Yezeyeva, Head of the Hospitality Department of the Krasnodar Region’s Ministry of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage, said: “We are all worried about Anapa, and we are currently thinking about the ways to help. This includes a special loan of up to five million roubles for a period of three years with a rate of just two per cent per annum. Besides, together with the Ministry of Finance we are considering a possibility of granting tax holidays to hotel businesses in the Temriuk district and Anapa.” At the same time, Anapa hoteliers are not losing hope, especially the ones whose hotels are located in the spots not affected by the ecological accident.

“We are getting ready for the summer and waiting for the guests. Some hotels stand on pebble beaches, which were not exposed to the spill. Many also have swimming pools. Since January, we have started taking bookings for the summer. Now there are fewer volunteers in Anapa because of machines used to clean the beaches. A sand rampart covered with a net has been built. An engineer from Skolkovo came up with the idea of using nets to catch fuel oil. Now the sand is being sifted using machines, and it is already cleaner than before the emergency situation. That’s why we are not giving up,” said Susanna Margosyan, Head of Sukko Valley Hotel and Heliopark Aqua Resort.

State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin thinks that, given the situation in Anapa, the tourist flow to Sochi may reach 10 million holiday makers a year.
