Krasnodar, 27 February – Yug Times. Current issues related to protecting children's rights and preventing abandonment were recently discussed in Adyghea with the Children's Ombudsperson Maria Lvova-Belova.

“The small size of the territory makes it possible to work more comprehensively on issues related to the prevention of family disadvantages. At the same time, there is a lot to be done about the issue. It is necessary to improve the activities aimed at supporting families in difficult life situations and helping the parents before it’s too late," Maria Lvova-Belova stressed. Head of the Republic of Adyghea Murat Kumpilov said that last year, 1.3 billion roubles was allocated from the regional budget to support families with children. Such families received subsidies totalling more than 6 billion roubles through the Social Fund.

"Now there are more than 53,300 families with children in the republic. Practically every fifth of them is a large family. Over the past five years, the number of such families has grown by more than a third: from 7,000 in 2020 to 9,700 in 2024," said Murat Kumpilov.
