Krasnodar, 9 August – Yug Times. About 1.5 million people have visited nature and tourist routes in Sochi since the beginning of 2024.
This summer season, over 150 kilometres of hiking trails and cycling routes of varying degrees of difficulty were arranged in Sochi's mountain resorts and recreational zone. "Every year eco-tourism is becoming more and more popular," commented Oleg Burlev, Deputy Mayor of Sochi. "We observe a significant growth of the tourist flow at natural recreational facilities and tourist routes of the National Park and Reserve; since the beginning of the year they have been visited by about one and a half million people, which is on average 30% higher than last year's figure."
The most popular destinations for Sochi residents and tourists from other cities and countries are the local waterfalls.
The most popular spots for travellers who prefer active recreation are the mountainous route that leads to Sochi from Adyghea, and hikes from the mountain cluster to Zerkalnoe (Mirror) Lake and the Bzerpinsky Ledge, from where one of the brightest starfalls of the year, the Perseids meteor stream, can be observed in mid-August.
