Krasnodar, 26 May. Our today’s interviewee is Vasili Shvets, Head of the Municipal Unit of Resort City of Anapa (City Mayor)
Q.: Please tell us about New Anapa project. When will the development of this territory begin?
A.: The project has already come to an active phase. President Vladimir Putin took a strategic decision on its implementation; there is a corresponding resolution and instructions given after a session of the State Council and meeting with the Government. The present phase includes geological survey, and conceptual planning of the area and everything that will be placed there.
The project will be implemented in the area of about 1,600 hectares, but major construction works will be carried out only on 800 hectares. The other half is part of a specially protected natural zone, and it will be used only for beautification purposes. The project provides for installation of engineering infrastructure, construction of spas and health resorts, sports and amusement facilities, including an aquatic park and fairground attractions. It will be a national year-round family resort. I reckon that the design works will begin next year, so that in two years we will be able to proceed to development works.
Q.: At present, Anapa is better known owing to a big number of children’s summer camps. Will the focus shift towards family recreation in the future?
A.: For a long while, Anapa has been known as the capital of children’s recreation – due to the work performed since the Soviet time. I am very glad that today investors are actively investing in children’s recreation by upgrading the existing facilities and opening new children’s health resorts. This year two new children’s spas will open. In another facility, new buildings are being constructed. We were and will remain the capital of children’s recreation.
At the same time, we strengthen our position in the family recreation segment. On the whole, all newly built spas have good conditions for comfortable family recreation. Currently about a dozen such projects are being implemented. One of them became the first hotel in Russia that was built with the use of privileged bank credits supported by the government.
