Krasnodar, 26 April – Yug Times. The challenges of the shift to natural gas motor fuel were discussed last week by the meeting held last week in Pavlovskaya. It was chaired over by Gazprom CEO Viktor Zubkov who also holds the position of Presidential representative with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

In his speech, Mr. Zubkov stressed upon the need to count on gas engines.

“For Krasnodar Krai as the country’s leading agricultural region, it is an especially pressing issue. Farmers bear much expenses to pay for the seeds, fertilisers, etc., and natural gas motor fuel will help reduce them,” he said.

Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev indicated to existence of factors restraining the development of natural gas fuel market, like a long period of time- up to two years – needed to connect gas stations to gas pipelines. He also reminded that the region has 27 ‘closed’ gas distribution stations, to which it is not possible to connect gas filling stations. The Gazprom’s investment programme has scheduled reconstruction of these stations for the years 2025–2026 only.
