Krasnodar, 3 March. Our today’s interviewee is Natalia Danina, Chief Expert in Labour Market, Head of Customer Efficiency Department, of hh.ru

Q.: The year 2022 has passed. How did the labour market survive it, and where did it stop?

A.: In 2022, the situation in the labour market was quite ambiguous – in some spheres the number of vacancies were decreasing, in others, quite the contrary, they were growing. Say, negative trends were recorded in such spheres as ‘Banks, investments, leasing’ (with the annual average decline rate of -51%), ‘Automobile business’ (-57%), ‘Governmental service, and non-commercial organisations’ (-75%), and ‘Insurance’ (-77%). At the same time, the number of vacancies was growing in such spheres as equipment installation and servicing (+60%), construction and realty (+49%), sports and beauty industry (+36%), extraction of raw materials (+33%), and working personnel (+25%).

Q.: How can the current employers’ behaviour be described?

A.: Under the current conditions of uncertainty, the business needs specialists that are able to give comprehensive assessments and forecasts for all possible scenarios to adapt or correct the strategies. Now it is especially valuable to be a universal specialist with a broad choice of skills, rather than one with a narrow expertise. It is not only because an employer wants to have one specialist to cover two or three tasks at a time. It is important first of all under the conditions of turbulence and transformation of business processes, when the tasks of an employer may change cardinally within a very short period of time.

Q.: Has it become more difficult to look for a job?

A.: Most significantly, the competition for administrative personnel and youth without work experience has decreased in the spheres of arts and entertainment, insurance, car business, marketing and advertising. The highest staff shortage was observed in such sectors as working personnel, extraction of raw materials, home personnel, and consulting – no more than one CV per vacancy.
